Former Arsenal Star Fredrik Ljungberg is back in Britain. After a 2 year stint in the USA, where he plied his trade at Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire, he reportedly wanted to leave the MLS because he missed to true appreciation for the sport. He has signed with Scottish giants Celtic. If he can repeat his Arsenal form at Celtic, this will be a great signing.
Malaga have signed The Beast. Owner and president Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani paid 2 million euros to Roma for the Brazilian forward. Julio Baptista has had an impressive carreer so far. After 3 years at Sao Paulo he made the move to Europe, impressing everybody in an attacking midfielder role at Sevilla. Two years and no less than 38 goals later Real Madrid paid 20 million for him. He was employed by the Blancos for 3 years, but spent his second year on loan at Arsenal. His statistics we less than impressive these years, and he eventually he was offloaded to Roma for 9 million euros in 2008. He has 45 caps for Brazil, scoring 5 goals.
Arsenal have signed Japanese forward Ryo Miyaichi. He is expected to arrive in January. The former under-17 star has been dubbed a mixture between Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. Undoubtedly he shows great skill on and off the ball with some great runs.
The talented 25-year old Brazilian midfielder Elias has transferred from Corinthians to Atletico Madrid. He claims to have been inspired by Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo, players which also moved to European leagues from Brazil. The transfer fee was not made public.
With his transfer from PSV to FC Barcelona completed, Ibrahim Afellay was presented to press and fans. Before showing his skills to the supporters in Camp Nou, “Ibi” told journalists that he is proud to be able to wear the Barca-jersey on the pitch. The 24-year old midfielder will be the 20th Dutchman playing for the Catalan club.
